The courses listed below are normally required by Admission Candidates and will be available through UTC during the 2017-18 academic year. All of these courses are taught in “real time” a webinar /distance model.  Students must be available to participate in the classes at the hour at which they are given.

United Church Polity
Using a case-study approach, discover how the United Church makes its decisions. Open The Manual, learn our “rules,” policies, and procedures. Explore the caring and practical dimensions of making decisions and working within church structures. Learn the information that church leaders need to be effective in their role in the church. This course is for lay leaders, candidates for ministry and ministers seeking admission to the United Church.

Education in the Church
A course for admission students to the United Church, and others interested in the educational ministry of the church in changing times. This course offers an overview of models, tools and practices of learning and growing in faith, mission, and vision, with particular emphasis on educational ministry in the United Church of Canada.

United Church Worship
Explore the unique character, history and ethos of liturgical expression in the United Church of Canada. Integrate theory and theology, and develop your skills for worship leadership in United Church congregational and pastoral contexts.

United Church History and Theology (double course taught weekly over the Winter semester)
This course is a survey of the rich history of the United Church of Canada and of the various kinds of theologies generated throughout that history and within the United Church today. As participants continue to expand their knowledge of and engagement with United Church history and theology in years to come, this course will provide skills for those endeavours.

This course will not be offered for the 2017-2018 academic year and will next be offered in January 2019.

As all of these courses are on-line courses, students must have a computer with Internet access (intermediate to high-speed, not dialup) and familiarity with basic computer software and Internet usage.

Class enrolment is limited. Complete application with fees will be accepted on a first come basis. *Note: there is a one time fee of $60.00 for students registering for UTC courses for the first time.
